Ingredients
1 Cup Gram flour (Plain can be used)
1 egg
2 Tablespoons Curry Powder
1 Tablespoon Turmeric
2 Whole onions sliced
1 cayenne chilli finely chopped
Salt
Vegetable Oil
Lemon (cut into wedges)
Lettuce (shredded)
Tomatoes (cut into wedges)
This onion bhajii recipe will serve 4. Onion Bhajis make a great starter or accompliment to a meal.
Method
Fry the onions until soft in the vegetable oil, remove two thirds and brown the remainder.
Mix the Flour, egg, curry powder, turmeric, onions, cayenne chilli and salt in a bowl with enough water to make a thick mixture, and then mix in all the onions.
Heat about 1 cm of vegetable oil in a frying pan, spoon a little onion bhajii mix at a time into the oil and fry for a few minutes on each side until golden brown, (dont try and cook more than 2 or 3 at a time as the oil will cool and the bhajiis will fall apart).
Serve with a wedge of lemon, shredded lettuce and wedged tomatoes.
